April, 2012 Notice Re: Request for Registration Agreement for Online Disclosure of Copyrighted Works (that have been published by the Museum) Committee for the Academic Information Repository
National Museum of Ethnology In 2010, the National Museum of Ethnology established a “Digital Repository/Minpaku Repository” to make our research results available to the public through the internet.
The academic works appearing in Museum publications constitute an important part of the Museum’s research results and form an indispensable part of the Minpaku Repository. With respect to online disclosure of the academic works, under copyright law a registration agreement must first be obtained from the author. Consequently, we are contacting each author of copyrighted works that have appeared in Museum publications to obtain permission to digitize them and include them in the Repository.
While some authors have readily agreed to register their publications, there are some copyrighted works that are still pending, because either the author has not replied, or because contact information of the author (or if the author is deceased the person who has inheritance rights) is unknown.
We hereby ask authors of non-disclosed copyrighted works for permission to register and use their research results in the Minpaku Repository. Please note that the Agreement for Online Disclosure of Copyrighted Works concerns reproduction rights and rights of public transmission only, it does not apply to transfer of copyright.
